Duluth High School HOSA Chapter

Choose Your Events For SLC
Instructions
1) Carefully read through the Competitive Events Overviews to narrow down which events you think you would be interested in. Pay attention to whether the event requires team members, and if it does, make sure you know how many team members it requires.

2) Once you have narrowed down your options, read through the Competitive Events Guidelines for detailed information for those specific events.

3) Now choose TWO (2) events that you want to compete in. Your first choice event can be any event you are eligible for. This should be the event you want to do the most. However, your 2nd event is your BACKUP event, in the case that you are unable to compete in your first choice event. (Some reasons you may not be able to compete in your first choice event may be that you do not pass qualification testing for your first choice event, your first choice event is a limited event and is already chosen by another team, etc.) Your 2nd choice (backup) event MUST NOT be an event that requires qualification testing. Click here for the list of events that DO require qualification testing. Your 2nd choice event CANNOT (I repeat, CANNOT) be from this list.

(Qualification testing is an online test that will be held at the school in January. You must be top 40 in the state to qualify for the event.)

4) If your event requires a team, make sure you know how many members must be on the team and decide who will be on the team. Discuss this with your team members first before submitting to Duluth HOSA. Also, make sure that all your team members' events are the same choice priority. For example, if John Doe and Jane Doe want to compete as a team in the CPR event together, they BOTH must have it as their 1st choice event. OR if they wanted to do CPR as a backup, BOTH must have it as their 2nd choice event.

5) Now that you have chosen 2 events and finalized teams, you may now submit your events to Duluth HOSA. Fill out the form with proper capitalization and read the instructions CAREFULLY. The last day to submit your events is October 29. Some events are first come, first serve, so fill it out ASAP.

Side Notes:
-
If you made a mistake, you can always go back and edit/fix your response.
-
If you pick a team event without listing a team, your response is void until you fix it.
-
If one of your events is a team event, make sure that you list YOURSELF & your other team members as part of the team. (This is on the submission instructions too)

Thanks!
